This has happened to everyone at least once, and know that, when trying to find comfort, it is okay that you don’t know what’s wrong, why your mood is like this. Especially in a time like today; the loss of everyday social interaction and the fear of the virus has caused many to be in a weird place mentally. Here are a few ways through which you can comfort yourself:
- Accept that you are feeling off
First and foremost thing to do is to accept the fact that you are in a bad mood. No need to analyze it, just make peace with it. Nothing can be solved further if this isn’t done. Know in your heart that you are not at fault here. You are human; you are supposed to feel emotions. Don’t let anyone tell you this is wrong.
- Give yourself a reward
During such confusing times never blame yourself, always do the opposite. Give yourself a break from work stress and treat yourself for all the hard work you have been doing. Take a long bath with scented candles, have a movie night, binge watch your shows, eat those snacks you wanted to eat, paint those nails. Giving a reward always helps in comforting yourself.
- Read or draw
Get yourself comfy with blankets and open up a random book and start reading. This will not only take your mind off of things but also entertain and give you knowledge. Not a reading person? Well grab a sketch book and start sketching your heart out; your lounge, your garden, a tree, anything! Just draw, it relaxes the mind and eventually you.
- Clean your closet/ room
Okay, this might not sound right or okay but cleaning things actually does help; like a lot. Get up and clean that closet you wanted to clean for so long, have a closet fashion show if you want. This gives our minds a satisfaction that at least some things are right in life, nomatter how small.
Meditation and yoga are a great way to seek comfort. The soothing sensation and the quiet time relieve the brain of all the tensions it’s carrying, hence relaxes the body. Adapt this habit and do it on a regular basis to enhance its benefits.
- It’s okay to ask for help
Know that it is never wrong or embarrassing to ask for help when you need it. Call your best friend, talk to your parents or your cousins whoever you feel closest to. Letting out and sharing what you are feeling even when it’s vague often lessens the burden on yourself.
These are very weird times so always make sure you are taking the utmost care of yourself and not just ignoring it. No matter how small the reason ends up being; a problem is a problem. You can also go check out on how to get rid of insomnia and stress reduction.
