- Be sincere:
Always have a pure intention if someone is talking to you, especially if they are telling you about their feelings. Do not make fun of them neither laugh at them. If they are telling you something, they are trusting you. Do not let them down.
- Listen to understand, not reply:
There is a lot of difference between hearing and listening. A lot of people hear the person in front of them and just reply what they want to without acknowledging the other person’s opinion. This is very wrong. Try empathizing with the person in front of you.
- Be Silent for most of the time:
Yes, stay silent. In most cases, all someone is wanting is to be heard. They just want someone who can listen to all they have to say. they want a good listener. If you keep talking, it might hurt their feelings and they may lose interest in your moment together.
- Be mindful:
Do not distract yourself by thinking about other things while listening to someone. It is a scared trust someone is putting in you, do not violate it. Moreover, be mindful of what the person sitting in front of you needs. They might need a tissue or a hug, read their non-verbal gestures and do you best.
