MENTAL HEALTH AND SOCIAL LIFE

MENTAL HEALTH AND SOCIAL LIFE

Mental health…is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going. But nowadays our mental health and social life are at conflict with each other. Most of the times, we do things under the influence of society that are nothing but a poison for our mental health. The worst part is that we are not even able to realize that we are facing a mental disorder. Stress and Depression have become so common, that they are not even considered a problem now. These mental stresses are now a part of our lifestyles. But here we are, with the right guidance to help you understand the relation between your mental health and social life.

OUR BUSY LIVES, RUINING OUR MENTAL HEALTH

The 21st century life is a constant struggle. It is nothing less than an intense race. A race in which we run each day. A race so evil, that we would rather run till the end of our lives than getting a break and enjoying the views. The result is that we face constant exhaustion, stress and depression. Our physical and mental health is badly affected in our struggle for economic success. It is an irony how man sacrifices his health to earn, and then the same man scarifies his wealth for his health.

busy life

A very important reason for us to be so busy is technology. Most of us do get considerable leisure time, but we so happily waste it indulged in our devices.

According to a 2019 US study, an average adult spends 2 hours and 55 minutes on his/her smartphone. That’s a 9-minute increase in a year. Similarly, studies have found that people addicted with phones are more likely to develop mental disorders.

While most of us agree that we are spending way too much time on smartphones and we badly need a detox. But only 28% are able to reduce the usage for only a day.

The point is that we have to understand that our life is not a race to be won, but a game to be played and enjoyed.  We need to essentially check our smartphone usage and other time drainers that are making our lives busy. If we are able to cut these, we would most probably get freed from this self-crushing race of life.
