- Eat Fresh Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables contain fiber to help you feel full quickly. Thanks to its natural sugars, fruits help to satisfy your sweet tooth, while vegetables help in filling up your stomach quickly.
Adding a lot of fruits and vegetables to your diet will help you, so get a lot of color on your plate.
- Eat High Fibrous Proteins instead of fatty ones
Fiber-rich foods keep you full for longer. Protein is necessary for building muscles and organ function.
- Beans for example are filling, high in fibers and excellent source of proteins.
- Choose roast beef or lean cuts of beef when consuming red meat
- Eat low-fat dairy for source of proteins
- Vegetarians can get a lot proteins from nuts, soy, seeds, beans etc.
- Eat whole grain and cut back on carbs
Cutting back on sugars, starches or carbohydrates, make your hunger levels go down, thus you generally end up consuming fewer calories.

Instead of processed carbohydrates eat only naturally-occurring carbohydrates.
- Avoid unhealthy foods with empty calories
Avoid eating foods which have calories but very little or no nutritional value. These mainly include the junk food, drinks and beverages. Cakes, pastries, cookies, sodas, donuts, pizza, cheese, ice cream, bacon, energy drinks etc., all these are calories but basically empty.
- Eat the fruit instead of juices
Eating a whole piece of fruit fills you up more than juice since raw fruit contains more fiber. So instead of taking smoothies and juices opt instead for eating a whole piece of fruit since, juices and smoothies are higher in calories.
- Drink more soups
If you start with a soup you will probably eat less. Also soups are relatively low in calories but can be rich in nutrients depending on recipe you used. Avoid soups with cream or other fatty ingredients.
- Eat slowly
Our brain takes about 20 minutes to register feelings of fullness. So if you don’t feel full immediately, then do not keep on eating, instead tend to eat slower or wait. You should always pause for a little bit after eating and before having a seconds helping.
- Add good fats to your diet
Monounsaturated Fats are proven to help you burn fat, specifically in the midsection. So, add foods like olive oil, walnut, avocados, almonds, flaxseed and Kalamata to your diet and watch the weight falling right off you.
- Eat foods that contains a lot of water
The water in such foods keep you full for longer so you eat less. People who eat foods with high water content have usually lesser Body Mass Index.
Foods like fruits and vegetables are rich in water. Like watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, peaches, grapefruit in fruits and cucumber, celery, lettuce, radish, zucchini are few vegetables with high water content.
- Increase you water intake
Water is a necessity, whether you want to lose weight or not, you should always have a good intake of water. Your body can also confuse your thirst with hunger so keep your intake updated. By keeping yourself well hydrated you’ll feel less hungry.
You should also drink a big glass of water before your meal so you feel full soon, thus eating less. Never drink water after your meals.
