the same old look, with new brains
Introducing the New iPhone
On Wednesday, Apple announced the new iPhone SE. A smaller mid-budget iPhone that has the same processor of the iPhone 11 ($700) and iPhone 11 Pro.
The iPhone SE has the same basic look and shape as the iPhone 8, thus having a rather small screen of 4.7-inch, large bezels, and a physical home button with Touch ID.
The iPhone SE will be available for pre-order on April 17th, and shipping starts on April 24th. Three different models are being offered, including a 64GB model ($399), a 128GB model ($449) and a 256GB model ($549).
It’s a sequel to the original 2016 iPhone SE. Just like its predecessor it is the cheapest iPhone offered by Apple. iPhone SE is intended to replace the $450 iPhone 8 from the company’s lineup.
The main selling point of this device is it’s top of the line processor Apple’s A13 Bionic chip. This is the same processor found in the more premium offerings by Apple. Apple claims A13 bionic chip the fastest chip ever in a smartphone.
“Introduced with iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, A13 Bionic is the fastest chip ever in a smartphone and provides unparalleled performance for every task iPhone SE handles.”

A13 Bionic has an 8-core dedicated Neural Engine with a focus on machine learning. The chip together with the very well optimized iOS13, enables power never witnessed before in this price range. A13 Bionic is based on a 7nm process which ensures great efficiency thus enables extraordinary battery life for the device.
Equipped with Wi-Fi 6 and Gigabit-class LTE, iPhone SE promises lightning-fast connectivity and download speeds, thus bringing a fluid experience.
Camera performance is a huge improvement over its predecessor, and this is its main selling point. It is a 12-megapixel shooter on the back besides a flash. The A13 Bionic chip plays a vital role in improving the image quality through its smart HDR photography technology.
iPhone SE rocks Apple’s 4.7-inch IPS LCD Retina display. The display size is much smaller compared to the competition. Regardless it has been the most popular display of all time.
The design is very identical to iPhone 8, with no headphone jack, lightning charging port, power button with touch ID and a single camera lens on the back.
We can roughly expect similar battery life as seen in iPhone 8. There is no official word from Apple in this department. iPhone SE supports 18W fast charging, but it only comes with a slow 5W charger which is a bummer.
All in all, iPhone SE is very similar to the older iPhone 6, iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 except for a few internal improvements. For the price it is good deal considering Apple provides 5 years of software support.
